Shauna's Web Solutions started when I was in my sophomore year of college and had to sell my horse due to college and financial constraints. I missed the horse world and wanted to stay in it throughout my time away in school. I noticed there was a lack of well-designed websites, or just websites in general, in the equestrian community and wanted to fix that. Starting with local stables that needed websites, I now am providing quality websites to the nation and have expanded to print & logo design and IT Solutions! I am very excited about the future of my business and enjoy every new project I receive.
My involvement in the equestrian community
I got my first and only horse when I was eleven years old back in June of 1998. My mom and I didn't know much about the English side of horses, (she rode western all her life in New Mexico) especially when it came to thoroughbreds; we bought a young thoroughbred anyway. I didn't do much with Cobb initially until I was referred to Lisa Reid, an eventing instructor that was in the area. Little did I know that my horse and I would grow SO MUCH with Lisa in the last 3 years I had before college. She taught us everything we needed to know about eventing through her knowledge, love, and passion for the sport. Although Cobb dumped me a few times because of some invisible monsters on the cross country courses, we got through the jitters and started to just blossom. Every drop of sweat and gritting of teeth was worth it when I started consistently winning at the novice level and after moving up, won my first and only training level show. Three months later, in my first semester of college, I was honored to receive the title of Jr. Novice Champion at the 2006 American Eventing Championships in North Carolina. Thanks to Lisa's knowledgeable instruction and countless days of work, my parents full support, and Cobb's willingness to please, I was blessed to have lived such an unforgettable experience!
Although there are many unknowns after graduation including my career, my financial status, and my location, I plan to return to eventing with a new horse as soon as I'm stabilized.
Education
I received my Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va, having studied abroad my Spring '10 semester in Sheffield, England. Virginia Tech is a great university and I wouldn't refer anyone anywhere else. The campus is gorgeous and the Hokie community is really something to be a part of, as the people and the environment are very enjoyable. Also, you can't beat the fact that Virginia Tech has a highly ranked engineering school and has the best campus food in the nation!
On the side of engineering, I have continued to study further into coding, programming, and web design. I am profficient in HTML, CSS, Photoshop CS5, Dreamweaver, and am familiar with Javascript. I enjoy bringing on new clients and projects, designing unique websites strictly from the clients' requests and receiving the satisfaction of a very satisfied customer.
