Where do I start once I decide I want a site?
Start by thinking of a domain name. Have a couple of backups just in case the first ones are taken. Then think how you want your site laid out including certain colors, pictures, and information you may want to include. It always helps to browse a variety of random sites to see what you like and don’t like as far as looks go.

How long will it take for my site to be up?
This is dependent on a couple of factors: complexity and client-dependent information. Designing the site initially takes me about 1-2 weeks to come up with a layout. During that time the client works on getting the text and pictures together, which takes some longer than others. After receiving the information it usually doesn’t take more than a few days for me to put the site up. Of course, more complex sites with more information will take a bit longer.

What if I already have a domain?
That’s fine. I’ll just need to acquire the information needed to access the domain account. Depending on the domain company, I may transfer the domain name to my domain account (godaddy.com) to make things simpler.

What if I already have hosting?
If you’ve already paid for hosting and it’s still active, I’ll use your host until it expires (subtracting the hosting cost from your payment). When it expires, I’ll start using my host, truen.net. If that happens in the middle of your payment cycle, I’ll pro-rate the hosting on your next payment.

Is there a limit to the number of pictures, text, or pages I can have?
Nope. I only make suggestions if I think there’s an excessive amount and if the website starts looking messy.

Will people be able to google my site?
Google’s search is mainly based on the number of unique IP addresses and how old your site is. So, the more people that visit and the longer it's up, the higher your site will be on googles search results. I’d say in about a month from putting up your site it would be on one of the first 3 page search results when googling either your farm’s/business’s name or your name, assuming you’ve had some amount of activity on it.

How do I get my site to be in the google search results when somebody searches "eventing trainors", "horse lessons", "horse boarding in Virginia", etc.?
Since google relies mostly on the age of the site and number of unique IP’s, there aren’t many tricks I can do to make your site one of the top sites to pop up for those types of searches. Meta tags used to help with other search browsers but not so much with google. My advice is to advertise in magazines/columns closely related to your business, or continue advertising where you have been. When people look at a list of advertisements, it’s ten times easier for them to look up the businesses that have websites rather than call up the ones that just leave a phone number or e-mail. But I am still researching and hopefully will find other ways in advancing sites in google rankings without paying. One related article for starts is Traffic Blazer on Godaddy's website.

Will I be charged the same rate the following years?
Actually, you pay less! You don’t have to pay for the one-time fees so it's just the base rate you were initially quoted.

How long does it take to make changes/updates?
It usually takes me no longer than 3-4 days to update your site after the request. If I go on vacation or am unable to get to my laptop for any length of time, I’ll put a notice on my site ahead of time, but it's a rarity.

Can I add a page or other added features mid-payment time?
Yes. It’ll be charged on your next payment.
